Here again, there again, Sam Again.

I didn’t meet Sam like most photographers; shooting film together was actually a conjured afterthought. With no phone, a mutual friend sent him to meet me outside Funky Winker Beans. Shadows casting on a Monday night, punk rock karaoke filled the bar while our table emptied pitchers. One night turned over, and a few days later we remained in the attic. (Striking the correlation at a time, that our “other” inhabitant was also titled with this name.)

Wandering the local radius from my home, we shot some images in the daylight, while Sam captured his thoughts, and taught me about aperture.

Dark corners downtown

Once again unsure of what I signed myself up for when accepting a job with Miss Henry. A pleasant surprise, when taken over by darkness, we descended the stairs, to shoot demons conjured.

Ropework with FetPhotoman

After a fun-filled (yet exhausting) couple days filming, the long weekend extended itself for still work.

We met at the Richards street studio for a calm yet productive day; two girls worked on body-paint while we shot this set in the adjoining area.  Here’s a peek from Monday morning.

I don’t think I’ve ever posted these before, and I don’t know why.

Last year I moved out of my ramshackle house and back to the drive. It had it’s quirks for sure, but one of the greatest things was the 70′s porn vibe in the basement. Mirrored wall tiles, brick fireplace, and bar. Shimona had to come over and play, I hope you enjoy :)

Fusing ideas with body. Behind the scenes with Jalisa Ocean

February 18, 2013 § Leave a Comment

When I was new to modeling almost a year ago, Jalisa Ocean was one of the first designers I was asked to shoot with. She gave me a taste of fast wardrobe changes and catalog – it was my first time experiencing them as the face instead of crew.ABullick__DSC9935

It’s almost Spring again, and I was blessed to be pulled into another shoot with this amazing local designer.  As appose to multiple garment shots, this time we would be  shooting a creative editorial with two complete outfits and fine attention to concept and detail.

ABullick__DSC9931Meeting up at the studio in the morning, I was greeted by Tawni, who would be doing our makeup that day. I was really excited when I heard what she had in mind; I’ve worked with airbrush many times, but haven’t had anyone paint my face since school three years ago.

The theme was a mix of steam-punk, Gothic, pirate, and industrial. The garments, costume like, and accessories unreal. Each part had it’s own role in mind, and we got pieced together with jewelry from a few other designers. I had these insane metal cuffs and matching rib band painted with black snake print, my counterpart’s back was dripping in chained necklaces of all sorts.

The headpieces were works of art in themselves. Created by Jalisa from new and found materials, each one had to be securely fastened and demanded particular movements to keep on. (Try bending backwards, making a pretty face, and having 10 pounds of hair wrapped around a bird cage!)

ABullick__DSC0038Heading outside, we were directed into a few different locations where we would shoot singles and doubles through the lens of Amanda Bullick of Brutally Beautiful Photography. Working rusty buildings and brick walls, I knelt down for a staged picnic with Vesper Sephony. It was so great to work with these two ladies for the first time, and I am so excited to see how things will turn out.

ABullick__DSC0121We ended the day with Jalisa sewing Vesper and I together, bonding as Siamese twins, using our body as one, and trying not to collapse a rickety wooden table.

The editorial will be published at a later date, but for now, Amanda was kind enough to leak these few photos and share some of the day with us.
